Recurring gifts using a credit or debit card are a convenient way to support The River School. You can set up recurring gifts by emailing the Development Office to arrange a monthly, quarterly or annual recurring gift. If your company has a Charitable Gift Matching Program, request a matching gift form from your employer when you make a gift to The River School. The impact of your gift greatly increases with matching gifts.

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is like a charitable investment account with the sole purpose of supporting charitable organizations you care about—like The River School. When you contribute cash, securities or other assets to a DAF at a public charity (e.g., Fidelity Charitable), you are commonly eligible to take an immediate tax deduction. The funds can be invested for tax-free growth and you can recommend grants to the charities of your choice.

Our online giving page has an option to make a transfer from your bank account. We can also provide information for electronic transfers, including bank and routing details. Please the Development Office.

If stock you have held for more than a year has increased in value, you may want to consider donating it. By transferring ownership to The River School, you support River, avoid capital gains tax you would pay if you sold the stock and can claim a charitable income tax deduction for the stock's fair market value on the stock gift date.

Let us know of your intent and include the stock name, number of shares and transfer timing. Your broker can obtain transfer instructions by emailing the Development Office. 

If you are 70½ or older, you are able to make tax-wise gifts through your IRA. By authorizing a Qualified Charitable Distribution from your IRA, individuals can donate up to $100,000 each calendar year to eligible charities.

Distributions, which count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), must be made directly from the IRA trustee to River. By donating this way, those funds are not counted as part of your adjusted gross income and you don't pay taxes on the gifted amount.

Contact your IRA administrator/custodian for instructions on how to authorize a Qualified Charitable Distribution to The River School. For more information, contact our Development Office.
